AC&M released today its estimates on number of Russian residential broadband connections as of March 2009. 

We are specifically emphasize that the numbers reported are residential accounts only. Number of corporate connections is not included into our releases. This may cause some difference with figures reported by operators who tend to combine residential and enterprise customers.

Total number of residential broadband sibscribers in Russia is estimated at 9.14 mln. Comstar, Vimpelcom and Volgatelecom are the top players in the segment.

March 2009 cellular subscriber data for Russia and Ukraine

AC&M released its estimates of cellular subscriber numbers in Russia and Ukraine. Key highlights of the release are:

Russia
  • Number of subscribers (valid SIM cards) increased to 191 mln, up 1.2 mln from February 2009, 22.8 mln compared to March 2008;
  • Cellular service penetration increased to 131.4 (up 0.8% from February 2009, 15.7% from March 2008);
  • There were 189 and 169 SIM cards in use per 100 population in Moscow and St.Petersburg respectively as of March 31, 2008.
Ukraine
  • Number of subscribers (valid SIM cards) decreased to 55.4 mln down 0.2 mln from February 2009, up 0.1 mln from March 2008;
  • Penetration decreased to 120.5% (down 0.3% from February 2009, up 0.9% from March 2008).

AC&M releases its estimates on cellular market in Russia and Ukraine.

Key points are:

Russia
  •  Number of subscribers (valid SIM cards) increased to 190 mln, up 0.9 mln from January 2009, 23.2 mln from February 2008;
  • Penetration increased to 131% (up 0.6% from January 2009, 16% from February 2008);
  • There were 188 and 169 SIM cards in use per 100 population in Moscow and St.Petersburg respectively as of February 28, 2008.
 Ukraine
  • Number of subscribers (valid SIM cards) decreased to 55.6 mln, down 0.2 mln from January 2009, up 0.4 mln from February 2008);
  • Penetration decreased to 120.5% (down 0.4% from January 2009, up 1.4% from February 2008).

Key points of the release are:

Russia:
  • Number of subscribers (valid SIM cards) increased to 189 mln, up 0.9 mln from December 2008, 23.9 mln from January 2008;
  • Penetration  increased to 130%  (up 0.6% from December 2008, 16.4% from January 2008);
  • There were 187 and 168 SIM cards in use per 100 population in Moscow and St.Petersburg respectively as of January 31, 2008.
Ukraine:
  • Number of subscribers (valid SIM cards) increased to 55.8 mln, up 0.006 mln from December 2008, up 0.45 mln from January 2008);
  • Penetration  increased to 120.9%  (up 0.01% from December 2008, up 1.8% from January 2008).
