March 2006: Cellular Subscribers in Russia and Ukraine

Russia

Key points of cellular market development in March 2006:

• Number of subscribers (valid SIM cards) reached 132 mln (up 2.1 mln from February 2006, 46.5 mln from March 2005);
• Penetration increased to 91% (up 1% from February 2006, 32% from March 2005);
• There were 139 and 122 SIM cards in use per 100 population in Moscow and St.Petersburg respectively as of March 31, 2006;

Ukraine

Number of subscribers (valid SIM cards) reached 33 mln (up 1 mln from February 2006, 16.8 mln from March 2005). Penetration increased to 69.2% (up 2% from February 2006, 35.3% from March 2005).
