Cellular Data Update, Russia and Ukraine

Russian cellular market added 1.6 mln new subscribers in March 2007. MegaFon is close to 20% market share in Russia. UMC and Kiyvstar net additions in April are close to 0.

Russia

Key points of Russian cellular market development in March 2007:

  • Number of subscribers (valid SIM cards) reached 155 mln, up 1.6 mln from February 2007, 22.7 mln from March 2006;
  • Penetration increased to 107% (up 1% from February 2007, 16% from March 2006);
  • There were 161 and 140 SIM cards in use per 100 population in Moscow and St.Petersburg respectively as of March 31, 2007.

Ukraine

Number of subscribers (valid SIM cards) reached 51 mln (up 0.1 mln from February 2007, 18.2 mln from March 2006). Penetration increased to 108% (up 0.2% from February 2007, 38% from March 2006).
